Review a NEXT camera's local storage and configure cloud backup from Camera Settings. Local recordings, cloud backup, and saved incident clips serve different purposes.
You'll need permission to change device settings to update backup. Confirm the camera's backup license and retention option with your account administrator before enabling it.
Understand the storage choices
| Storage | Purpose and limits |
|---|---|
| Local camera storage | Video stored on the camera's SD card. Standard-quality recording covers a longer period; high-quality event footage uses additional space. |
| Cloud backup | Licensed cloud storage for camera recordings. Retention options include 30, 60, and 90 days; confirm which option applies to your camera. |
| Saved incident archive | A selected clip prepared for download or sharing. It is separate from ongoing recording and backup. Use Export, share, and verify video. |
NEXT cameras can store up to 60 days of standard-quality local video and up to 30 days of high-quality event video. These are upper limits, not a guarantee that a particular time is available. When high-quality event storage fills, newer footage replaces older high-quality footage.
Person, vehicle, and animal events drive high-quality event recording. Use Set up analytics and detection areas to choose those detections. For recorded audio, use Configure camera image and audio.
Published stream reference
The following published values apply to model VNX-SN-VRS1-0. FPS means frames per second; bitrate is the amount of video data per second. These values do not guarantee a retention period.
| Quality | Resolution | FPS | Bitrate (kbits/s) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1280 × 720 | 24 | 720 |
| High | 3840 × 2160 | 24 | 3600 |
Check the camera's storage
- Open Devices → Cameras. Open the intended camera's thumbnail menu and select Camera Settings.
- Open Camera Info. and review SD Card Status and Connection.
Example camera details. Check the storage status as well as the connection. Select the image to view it full size. - If storage is not detected or supported, record the displayed status and contact your installer or support. Also collect the camera's Serial Number, Model Number, and Firmware Version from this page.
Recording is unavailable when the SD card is not detected or supported. An online connection or working live view does not establish that past footage exists. For a missing period, use Find missing recordings or cloud backup.
Change cloud backup
- In the camera's Camera Settings, select Backup.
- Set Cloud Backup to ON to enable it, or OFF to disable it.
- Select Update and review the response.
This page provides an on/off choice, not a selector for buying or changing a retention plan. If you need a different backup period or the required entitlement, contact your account administrator or Anavio support. For extended backup options, contact Anavio support.
A saved setting confirms the configuration request, not that every recording has reached cloud storage. Use Search camera activity and play recordings to find footage. If you receive an Edge storage not detected or Insufficient power notification, keep the device name, time, and message for support rather than assuming backup has protected the missing period.
