Find camera activity by time and location, narrow the results, and play the footage around an event. You need access to Search and the cameras involved.
Find and play an event
- Open Search → Camera Activity.
- Select Filter. Under Date & Time, set the Start and End values. Under Location & Device, choose the relevant site, zone, or camera.
- Use Object to narrow the detections when helpful:
- Person: Use the person categories or known people, clothing colors, and other available attributes.
- Vehicle: Choose the available vehicle type or color.
- Animal: Select this object type for animal detections.
- Select Apply. Review each result's time, camera, location, and detected object. Broaden the time range or remove filters if the results are too narrow.
- Select the event image to open playback. Use the player's play/pause and timeline controls to review the available video.
- For more context from the same camera, close playback and choose Camera History from the event's menu. Select the date and time, then open an available history thumbnail to play that period.
- When you find the incident footage, continue with Export, share, and verify video.
For footage at a known time without an event result, open Devices → Cameras, select the camera, and open History. Choose the date and time and open an available thumbnail. No search match does not prove that nothing happened, and a matching event does not guarantee that its recording is still available. See Find missing recordings or cloud backup if the period is missing.
Start from a photo
- In Search → Camera Activity, select Search by Photo.
- Select Choose file or drag in a JPG or PNG up to 15MB. Use a clear, unobstructed face image containing one person.
- Select Find.
- If matches appear, select the profile you want to investigate, then select Find Activity. Continue reviewing and playing its events using the workflow above.
Note: Photo matches and assigned names are not proof of a person's identity. Review the images and surrounding footage before using a match in an incident account or changing an identity assignment.
Correct an event's assigned identity
- When an event has the wrong person assigned and its menu offers Not This Person, select that action.
- Choose Remove to remove the assignment, or Assign to Known Person and select the correct person.
- Select Confirm.
Make a correction only when you have enough information to support it. This changes the assignment for the event; it does not establish the identity of every similar search result.
For a door's access record and recorded denial reason, use Find door activity and access-denied events.
Read the result icons
