Assign a card or key fob to an existing employee by reading it at a device or entering its card details manually.
You'll need permission to manage credentials: Full Access, Manager, or Supervisor. Create the employee first and assign the intended access group or schedule; see Add and manage users. To enroll at a device, the employee's schedule must include a connected reader.
Choose the card and enrollment method
Use a card type that matches your site's card configuration. Anavio recommends its unencoded MIFARE Classic 1K cards or fobs. Cards encrypted with another system's proprietary key cannot be reused in Anavio. See Setting global card configuration for the available card modes.
| What you have | Method |
|---|---|
| The card and an available reader | Add Using a Device |
| The card's known facility code and card number | Add Manually |
Use one method for the card you are assigning. These steps cover an ordinary access card; Add Lockdown card is a separate action.
Read the card at a device
- Open People → Users, select the employee, and open User Info.
- In Credentials, open the Card or Key FOB menu and select Add Using a Device.
- Select the Door where you will present the card.
- Choose Default for the Unified Reader's card reader. Choose External only when using a connected external reader with Wiegand input enabled.
- Select Select, then hold the card or fob to the chosen reader when prompted. The reader shows a green light when it reads the card.
- Return to Card or Key FOB → Details to see the assigned card.
Enter the card details manually
- Open the employee's User Info. page and find Credentials.
- Open Card or Key FOB → Add Manually.
- Enter the card's Facility Code and Card Number. Use the actual values supplied for that card. The form accepts whole-number facility codes up to 255 and card numbers up to 65535.
Enter the actual card values. The zeros shown are form defaults, not enrollment values to copy. Select the image to view it full size. - Select Add. Anavio opens the card details after the addition succeeds.
Note: Assigning a card does not define its access hours or doors. Those come from the employee's access assignments. See Set up groups and assign access for group-based access.
If you are replacing a lost card, contact support through Find system details and contact support so the old credential is addressed as part of the replacement.
