Prepare the network before connecting an Anavio reader or camera hub. You'll need an active internet connection to reach the Anavio cloud software and the installation guide for your hardware.
Network requirements
On a managed network, ask your network administrator to open these ports:
| Use | Port number |
|---|---|
| Device Communications | 8883 |
| Software Communications | 443 |
| STUN Protocol | 3478 |
| NTP | 123 |
Use DHCP or assign an IP address
Devices use DHCP to receive an IP address automatically. To assign a manual address, you need permission to change the device's settings in Anavio. Get the IP, Gateway, Netmask, and DNS Server values from your network administrator.
Subnet change: If the manual address belongs to a different subnet (network segment) from the DHCP address, you cannot access the device until you connect it to the new network.
- First connect the device to a DHCP-enabled network so it can connect to the Anavio cloud software.
- Open the network settings for the device:
- Reader: Open Devices → Doors, select the door, open its Settings gear, and select Network.
- Camera hub: Open Devices → Hubs, open the hub's three-dot menu, select Hub Settings, then Network. Manage a hub camera's network here, rather than in Camera Settings. An IP change applies to all sensors in the hub.
- Turn DHCP off and enter your IP, Gateway, Netmask, and DNS Server values.
- Select Update. If you changed subnets, connect the device to the network that matches its new address.
Check the guide for your hardware
- Unified Reader: The installation guide specifies power through the RJ-45 connector from IEEE 802.3af PoE equipment (48V, 200mA). PoE supplies power over Ethernet. Use the Unified Reader quick install guide (PDF) for its preparation and installation requirements.
- Anavio I/O Controller: Its power requirements specify an external 12VDC, 100mA minimum supply. Use the controller installation guide to size the supply for both the controller and the door strike.
- NEXT cameras: Follow the guide for your fixture: NEXT Solo (PDF) or NEXT Multi-Sensor (PDF).
