The Search feature in Anavio helps you quickly find and review important events across your cameras and access control system. Whether you're investigating an incident or simply monitoring activity, Search gives you powerful, easy-to-use tools to locate exactly what you need.

Getting Started

1. From the left-hand menu, click Search.
2. Choose the type of activity you want to review:
   • Camera Activity – Video-based events (people, vehicles, animals)
   • Door Activity – Access control logs (entries, credentials, users)

Camera Activity

Viewing Results

Camera results appear as image cards showing:

• Date & Time of the event
• Location (site and camera name)
• Detected object (person, vehicle or animal)

Click on any card to view more details.

User can also view the results in profile view. Profile view groups identified people in individual profiles so users can view all the activity of selected person.

Using the Search Bar

You can type simple, natural phrases to find what you're looking for. For example:

• “Blue cars last week”
• “Person wearing red shirt”

This makes searching fast and intuitive—no need for complex filters unless you require more precision.

Refining Results with Filters

Click the Filter button to narrow down your search.

Date & Time

Select a specific time range to focus your search.

Location & Device

Choose a site, zone, camera, or device to limit results to a specific area.

Object Detection

Filter based on what was detected:

• Object Type: Person or Vehicle or Animal 

Person Type

Filter people based on how they are categorized in the system:

• Users – Registered individuals in your system
• Visitors – Temporary or guest users
• Named – Individuals who have been manually identified
• Unknown – Detected persons who are not identified

Tags

• Person of Interest – Toggle this option to show individuals flagged for special attention or monitoring

For People

• Select up to two individuals
• Use AND / OR logic to combine selections

Clothing Color

• Filter by top and bottom clothing colors

Appearance & Accessories (Beta)

• PPE Vest
• PPE Headwear
• Glasses
• Face Covered
• Carrying Bag

Behaviour & Activity (Beta)

• Phone usage
• Smoking
• Assisted movement

Age Group (Beta)

• Young, Adult, Middle, Senior

Gender (Beta)

• Male or Female

Search by Photo

If you have an image of a person, you can use it to find similar appearances in your system.

Steps

1. Click Search by Photo.
2. Upload an image (JPG or PNG, up to 15MB).
3. For best results, ensure:
   • The face is clearly visible
   • No obstructions (e.g., sunglasses or masks)
   • Only one person is in the image
4. Click Continue.

What Happens Next

Anavio will scan recorded footage and return matches based on visual similarity.

Event Actions (Using the Menu on Results)

Each activity card includes a menu (three dots) that provides quick actions for managing events.

Available Actions

• Add Person of Interest/Remove Person of Interest (only available for face recognition events)
  Mark or unmark an individual as important for monitoring.
• Add to Named People (only available for face recognition events)
  Assign a detected person to a known identity in your system.
• Not This Person (only available for face recognition events)
  Correct a misidentified person. You can:
  • Remove the current label
  • Assign the event to the correct known person
• Download Image
  Save the image snapshot locally.
• Camera History
  View additional footage or activity from the same camera.
• Archive Event
  Store the event for future reference or investigation.
• Share Event
  Share the event with others for review or collaboration.

Managing Identity (Not This Person)

When correcting identity:

1. Select Not This Person.
2. Choose to either:
   • Remove the current assignment, or
   • Assign to Known Person
3. Select the correct person from the list.
4. Click Confirm.

This helps improve system accuracy over time.

Door Activity

Viewing Results

Door activity is displayed in a table format with:

• User name
• Access result (Granted or Denied)
• Date & time
• Door location
• Zone and site
• Credential used (e.g., face, card)

Refining Door Activity

Click Filter to narrow results.

Date & Time

Choose the time period you want to review.

Location & Device

Filter by site, zone or specific door.

User & Access

• Users/Visitors: Select specific individuals
• Credential: Filter by method of access
• Result: Granted or Denied, etc.

Navigating Results

• Results are shown with the most recent activity first.
• Use the page controls at the bottom to browse more results.

Icon Guide (Understanding Search Results)

These icons appear across search results and filters to help you quickly understand what is being detected.

Icon Meanings

	Known User  – A recognized individual already registered in the system
	Unknown User – A person detected but not identified
	Guest / Visitor – A temporary or visitor profile
	Named – A person who has been manually identified and labeled
	Person of Interest – An individual flagged for attention or monitoring
	People – General people detection category (non-specific)
	Vehicle – A car, truck, or other vehicle detected
	Animal – An animal detected by the system

These visual indicators are designed to make scanning and interpreting results faster and more intuitive.

• Start with a simple search phrase, then refine using filters.
• Use filters to narrow down large result sets quickly.
• Use Search by Photo when you don’t know a person’s identity.
• Combine multiple filters for more precise investigations.
